Technical reports with the structure engineers expect

A generic technical template: document control, introduction, method, findings, conclusions, recommendations and appendices. Formulas and charts on Pro.

What the report includes

Most technical reports share a shape: say what was asked, how it was done, what was found, what it means and what should happen next, with the evidence in appendices. The generic technical template in Report Kit 360 follows that structure in the order used by engineering institutions’ guidance on report writing, with document control at the front and references and appendices at the back. It is the template for everything that does not fit a specialist structure: condition assessments, site investigations, test reports, feasibility notes, expert observations. Tables, checklists and findings schedules are on Basic; formula tables with spreadsheet-style functions, calculated fields and charts are on Pro. Save your practice’s version with its standard wording and it becomes the default for the next report.

Template: Generic technical report (Basic). Alternatives: Structural inspection (Pro), Building survey (TDD) (Basic). The Basic template with the fewest assumptions. Numbered headings and a contents page are on by default and can be switched off in the Report panel.

Why technical reports teams use Report Kit 360

The structure is already there

Document control, numbered sections, references and appendices come with the template; you fill the content and the contents page updates.

Data blocks for the findings

Tables with CSV import, key-value lists, checklists and findings schedules on Basic. Formula tables, calculated fields and charts on Pro.

Reuse what you write every time

Methodology, limitations and disclaimers live in the snippet library. Save the whole structure as your practice template.

Issue, verify, share

The issued PDF carries a checksum and a Verify link, and the share link records views and downloads.

How it works

01

Create the report from the generic technical template

Enter the title, client, reference and date. The document-control block records the revision.

02

Write the introduction and method

Insert your standard scope and methodology snippets and adjust them to the job.

03

Add findings with tables and photos

Import CSV results into a table, add annotated photos and a findings schedule. On Pro, let a formula table do the calculations and add a chart.

04

Conclude, check and issue

Write conclusions and recommendations, clear the checks and issue the numbered PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Reorder, rename, add and remove sections in the outline, and switch numbering and the contents page on or off in the Report panel. Locked boilerplate blocks, where a template has them, can only be edited by Pro workspaces through custom templates.

Import CSV into a table block, up to 50 rows on Basic. Pro formula tables accept formulas such as SUM, IF and ROUND with named ranges, and export back to CSV or XLSX.

Basic gives one member 10 new reports a month with every Basic template, tables, photos, snippets, PDF export and one share link per report. Pro adds unlimited reports, formula tables and charts, team seats with a review workflow, DOCX export, white-label and an API.

It follows the common order found in engineering institutions’ report-writing guidance, in our own wording. Report Kit 360 is not affiliated with or endorsed by any institution.
